weโve been working on this issue but we have 3 cats, (heโs 4 and his sisters are 12), the girls have always been grazers but bug is a big foodie he was found on the street when he was between 4-6 weeks old and was never properly weened so he has food issues, weโve tried switching them to wet food but he just refuses to eat it if you have any tips for how to transition cats from having their food out all the time to only getting fed at certain times when they are well into adulthood PLZ lmk
im not a cat expert so dont take this for 100% yk advice but what we did was mix the kibble and wet together at first to start weening them to wet food. also if they are constantly eating each others food maybe set his bowl in another room away from the others so he has own space to eat and so he can eat his portion. thats just what helped us.
the issue is they have access to food at all times, their bowls just stay out since thatโs how we always had done it with the girls (the funny this is they LOVE wet food) i just donโt want to change things up on my girlies weโve talked with our vet about it and they didnโt have a definitive answer eitherโฆ
You could try doing feeding times where you feed them all once in the morning and once at night. The grazers will take time to adjust but they will eventually learn they need to eat it all in the morning and night. Some people do automatic feeders or those that only open for specific cats based on their collars but those are typically expensive if you have that many cats
