But this is how they get you to spend more money at places ie restaurants or clothes than you would otherwise. IMO I’d rather a flat 2% cashback on everything and not have promo deals that are manipulating me

Real, lowkey I get annoyed when students think the Discover card is the best thing that came to be. Half of them don’t know about the categories I feel like. And I don’t want to try and cater my spending to whatever category they decide it is that month.
