Best starter credit card is honestly just a no-annual-fee student card like PC Mastercard, Scotiabank Scene+ Visa Card for Students, or Neo Mastercard. Approval is easier and you start building credit history. Use it for normal expenses you already have like groceries, gas, bills, subscriptions, coffee, etc. The goal isn’t really rewards yet, it’s mainly just building credit.

Get a discover card, they’ll give you a lower limit that you can manage, great cashback and a cashback match, benefits and no annual fee, great card to start with to build your credit and use it as a substitute to your debit so you can always pay off your card. When starting out always pay your balance in full before the reporting date

Ignore everyone else in here and get a visa go card through U.S. bank. No interest first year no annual fee great cashback and points system. Easy approval.

Obviously follow the unspoken rules of keeping the usage under ~30% of the limit and paying the FULL and COMPLETE balance every month
