My health insurance just increased from 5% of my post tax income to 25%. This is ACA (Obamacare). Work insurance would’ve been even more What should I do? I can’t think of any other options.

25% is not fair. I wouldn’t want you to go uninsured, but 25% is a completely unnecessary amount to pay. I would maybe look private insurance? You said you’re healthy, so you might be able to get a better rate than 25% post tax.

Go to the insurance market place: healthcare.org and look for a plan you can afford. I had a “silver” plan and I had to reduce it to a “bronze” in order to be able to afford it.

Legally your work has to prove you with reasonably priced insurance if you’re a full time employee, I would go down that rabbit hole with what the specific portion of your wage is allowed to be

Private insurance thru my employer is more than 30% Obamacare is private insurance with government subsidies. Tried to do a PPO plan but because I’ve seen a psychiatrist in the last 12 months, I was denied despite being healthy.

Hmm. I understand that ACA is still private, but my point was outside of your employer. I have been able to get better rates outside of my employer in the past before I worked in medicine and got a much better deal through them.

How? The rate I get through the ACA is Regular private premium - ACA subsidies. How would applying for regular private insurance be cheaper for me?

I was able to find cheaper rates in my state outside of my employer. Limited coverage, but I was a healthy 22 year old, so it was fine for me. Seems that could also work for you. I don’t know your situation though.

The plan I can’t afford is the healthcare.org plan… Bankruptcy gets rid of debt.
