True or false, sex is the most intimate part of a relationship other than marriage. Hope this helps!

No but I’m confused like what do you mean other than marriage? Sex is like an activity that takes 30 mins to an hour and marriage is a long term commitment.

So I’m confused how you’re comparing the two

Like, sex happens in marriages

I’m not sure how to help you bro😭. Wanting to actually marry someone is more intimate than sex no? So other than marriage is there anything that’s above sex in terms of intimacy?

Like some people might literally think kissing someone on the forehead in the morning is more intimate than the sex itself, which I disagree with. Or traveling somewhere or some shit. That sorta thing

I see what you mean kind of. I just see like “wanting to marry someone” as a much more nebulous ever present quality of a relationship, while sex is like a short term activity yk

I think it depends on the sex

Or idk. Like, when you want to marry someone, wouldn’t you need a reason to marry them? And then wouldn’t that reason then be more emotionally important than sex?

Unless good sex is the reason you’re marrying them, and then I’d say you shouldn’t have that marriage lol

Yeah… sure… agreed… I’m not really sure what your point is. Marriage is longer than sex yes… and…😭. You’re not actually disagreeing with anything I said… I’m not sure how you want me to respond. Do you think the conviction to marry a person is less intimate than sex?

I think I’m confused by what you mean by intimacy honestly.

You think sex is more intimate than taking a trip together?

Bruh is English your first language? Intimacy… emotional trust, bond, loyalty, and in this context I’m pretty clearly talking about the romance aspect of it. Like is there an action or thing someone could say that’s more intimate to you than sex. You have sex with this one person but then this other person later on does this thing that felt more emotionally heavy than sex

I mean ultimately this is mostly a question of how shallow you view sex. I find it interesting that so many people don’t find sex to be the most intimate thing you can do with a potential partner. Not weird or bad necessarily, but interesting

I’m gonna ignore your rudeness there. I guess I don’t understand the jump between sex and wanting to get married. If sex is the most intimate interaction you feel you can have with a person, why would you want to get married?? It seems like sex would be more intimate than even that

Doesn’t mean one can’t be viewed as more intimate than the other. I don’t understand the issue

Depends on the trip but mostly no. And I was just making an example

I understand your question as saying that wanting to marry someone is the most intimate thing, and sex is the second most, and you are asking if there is anything in between for other people.

Which is why I said, except for marriage. I don’t know the answer to that question. And the people who think that probably won’t get married. My question assumes that marriage is more intimate than sex. My poll is curious about people who think there’s something other than marriage, that is more intimate than sex

I don’t know what this has to do with your ability to answer the poll tbh. Good question but like… I have no clue what you’re getting at. My poll assumes that marriage is generally the most intimate thing you can do. So idk why you’re asking about people who think sex is more intimate than marriage

Marriage, or wanting to get married is not intimate in itself. It is the things that make up the relationship that are intimate. If sex is the most intimate thing in your relationship, then it follows that the relationship (or marriage) is not any more intimate than sex. So my question is, why are you placing marriage above sex in terms of intimacy at all?

Why are you assuming that though??? For marriage to be more intimate than sex, there would have to be things in that marriage that are more intimate than sex. If there are things in that marriage other than literally wearing the ring and having a wedding ceremony, than those things could exist outside of the marriage too. Ergot, there can be things more intimate than sex.

Not necessarily. I guess I could be more specific? I’m talking about the initial admittance that you trust a person enough to agree that you’ll spend the rest of your life with that person. That agreement itself is the intimacy I’m talking about, not the ending culmination of marriage.Just the words “I want to marry you” and not about the specific details of that marriage. Those words are largely more intimate to people than sex if you’re 100% serious about it

Actually ignore my last comment mostly, if your marriage isn’t more intimate than just sex than I’d argue that marriage is bound to end, and is not good for either person. Unless their asexual or some shi idk

I just feel like if your marriage, or even just the willingness to get married and moment of commitment, was the most intimate thing in your life there would have to be things you could point to that make it that intimate. And I guess a marriage could be built on sex? But I can’t imagine that working out. Like to want to make that commitment with someone, I’d need there to be aspects of our relationship more meaningful or intimate than sex. Does that make sense?

Yeah agreed. I mean I never suggested that marriage would or should be built on sex. Doesn’t mean that it can’t still be the single most intimate part of it all for someone
