I think it is doomed to ever catch on because it is four syllables and can’t naturally be shortened to one or two. Short words like gay or shortened versions like pan/bi are simply easier and so you’ll rarely see people naturally adding 3+ syllable words to their conversational lingo if there are alternatives.
