I've heard that the presidents have a common relative or something and I feel like you'd only put that option if you were referring to that. Sitting next to Bob Dylan is also pretty specific and sounds like a flex. This feels like one of those posts where the lie is the option that sounds the most believable so it's gotta be the national park one

Common (which is using the word lightly) ancestor 400 hundred years ago maybe closer to 350 is not enough be related. People go years not meeting 1st aunts you think an 12x great 7 times removed is a relative

It’s fine and I don’t think anybody was under the impression you thought you should be president for that…? It’s just silly when people get overzealous about distant ancestry. Not a big deal at all but everything #2 said is correct

Like, John Lackland was a king almost 1000 years ago, so obviously a gigantic portion of people today also share ancestry with him. I have never had a conversation about ancestry with anyone who didn’t mention lineage to one king or another. It is a neat fun fact, but I think you’re in the vast minority to consider yourself “related to” everyone else who also descends from him. That’s all
