For anyone confused; Atlanta is 662 miles away from Miami and the top part of Atlanta is 558 miles from the southern most part of the Canadian border, so if you actually want to go to a city(such as Toronto) then yes Miami is closer although general Canada is closer

A crazier fact is that Bristol, TN is closer to Canada than it is to Memphis linearly

Atlanta is more than 700 miles from the nearest point of the Canadian border, and the southern part of the city is 600 miles from Miami.

Atlanta to Miami is about 665. Closest Canadian point is about 581 miles. So Canada is closer.

Miami is closer if it’s an actual border entry point. But if you count straight line distance, Atlanta is closer to the part of Lake Erie just north of Ohio
