Wasn’t this a South Park bit?

I like the sentiment, but carbs are definitely not at the bottom of the list. Maybe in terms of nutrient density

Just because the government says so (lobbied/paid by meat/dairy industry) doesn’t make it healthy. We know that saturated cholesterol-filled foods like meat and dairy are certainly not good for you.

Good to see pretty normal distribution on this one

Libs will disagree with anything this administration does. If Biden had been the one to release this, theyd be loving it.

I’m a lib and I genuinely love what RFK has done so far. I would have voted for him if he was the republican candidate 1000%

Carbs are not at the bottom of the list, whole grains are. Fruits and vegetables are at the top with healthy fats and protein

It’s hardly economical or feasible or necessary to get 400 grams of carbs from fruits and vegetables every day

Oh yes, I would agree. Good thing 400 grams of carbohydrates is not recommended by anybody unless you are a very very active woman or a moderately active man. At least 130 grams/day is recommended for brain function, though, which is an easier number to hit. 400 grams is equivalent to 1600 calories, which for the (average) 2,000 calorie diet is 80% of calories. The recommendation has been 45-65%.

This diagram is not talking about calories, like half of your calories will not come from fruits and vegetables if you eat half fruits and vegetables and half animal proteins. It would be a significantly smaller number. Is this where 400 grams of carbohydrates came from?

Do we *know* that or do you believe it more because the government has been saying it for a longer period of time?

No and i’m not sure what this graph signifies apart from general focus on foods. This applies effectively to the majority for getting in protein, fats, micronutrients, and hedging anemia in women. The 400g of carbs comes from my background as an athlete. It’s incredibly difficult to get enough carbs. 1g protein/lb, 0.5g fat/lb, the rest carbs. This diet is excellent, performance driven, and economical. I know the pyramid isn’t prescriptive, but it would be nice to push education instead of 🔺
