Part of the independence we have is having different states with different opinions and governors.

Even if you ignore government, I think the separate states matter a lot to us culturally, and the cultural diversity of the US is one of the things that is vital to this country’s identity

yeah maybe, but i think the standard of living would be better in some places like the south/appalachia

The south and 'red' states in general are funded by blue states. QOL would very likely go down in those places if they fully lost that funding. Theyd need to rebuild their economics completely

yes! i’m saying that the rebuilding of the economics would contribute to less poverty/better qol.
