I have a genuine allergy to specifically the flu shot ( it might be the egg protein?? is what I’ve been told) my body reacts weird to stuff and every year the flu shot has made me incredibly ill ( for like a week)and I can’t afford to miss school. Soooo mask it is !

I genuinely haven’t had the flu shot in like 15yrs and still have yet to get the flu. I feel so bad for those who get it though 😭

This is my plea for you all to get the vaccine if you have health insurance and/or are given the option to for free because it'll really help you if you do! But I also am genuinely curious what the data for this poll will look like

I was supposed to get mine last week but my dr said I should wait until I'm done with my ear infection

The one time I got a flu shot I got it bad and missed on big stuff so never again ✌️

So, people that do get it are valid. But for the flu vaccine specifically, I've never once got it, don't really see the point. Unlike a "normal" vaccine, the efficacy rates are all over the place every year (40-60% generally), since the strains change; and the flu isn't (generally) as harmful as most other vaccinated diseases, not something we can really eradicate either.

That sucks about the egg allergy, so sorry to hear that! They just released an egg free version of the flu vaccine so I recommend looking to see if your area has it. A pharmacy near me did so I got that

I found it, here it is! It's called Flublok: https://www.cdc.gov/flu/vaccine-types/flublok-vaccine.html

I'm glad you've been able to avoid it! I haven't gotten the flu in a while, but the last time I did, it was super painful

Oh gosh that has to be awful 😢, and yea I’ve gotten super lucky especially considering my brother gets it every year bc of his very weak immune system

He’s pretty much allergic to the shot too

we actually did wipe out a variant of the flu in the 2020-2021 flu season, making flu vaccines more effective still.
