I guess an important clarification is relative to what population? I usually interpret this as as all Americans my age. But it could be like all Americans any age, everyone in the world, etc.

Yeah I feel like it's pretty hard for our brains to even process the idea of ourselves not being smart. I mean the main way we can deduce that someone is "dumb" is if we know something they don't. But when we see someone else know something we don't, we don't think we're dumb for it, we just think we haven't learned it yet

Hmm yeah that makes sense. Although I just realized I’m lowkey a counterpoint. I feel somewhat smarter than the average American, but I feel dumb as hell at work. When I see someone else know something I don’t, I usually think I’m dumb for it lol. Whole lotta impostor syndrome
