Being legal means they’d be able to unionize and regulate safety

I think it should at the least be decriminalized as I don’t think women should go to prison for it. There are also cases where foreign women are trafficked and scared to go to the police because they are scared of being charged with prostitution.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with prostitution. If someone wants to do that for a living then they should be allowed to. However, there should definitely be laws in place tho to guarantee people aren’t forced into the profession and/or trafficked

I’ve always wondered though, for those who push for regulations. How do you regulate an industry built off the back of trauma and exploitation? I’m sure to an extent, there can be safety measures put in place but…I wouldn’t be surprised if workers, especially women continued to be trafficked/exploited

The government shouldn’t get to dictate how or why two consenting adults engage in sex.

On the other hand if prostitution is legalized it would help phase out the illegal brothels that already exist which don’t typically follow safety protocols such as frequent STD testing, 100% condom usage, and CONSENTING and legal workers.

I also think it’s crazy that being paid to have sex with someone is only legal if you are being filmed.

True because it’s not like prostitution doesn’t already exist here

so the entire problem is that a very large portion of the people engaging in prostitution are, in fact, not consenting and are being pimped

Again, that’s called rape.

I’m sure it won’t ever stop entirely. It’s the world’s oldest profession. But the point is to reduce to the amount of trauma and exploitation than what is currently happening

Idk about profession. Work, yes. That’ll be interesting to see. I’m not in support of the industry whatsoever but it would be great to see “rules” implemented or something to protect workers.
