I think casual audience members see Star Trek as more “nerdy” or not as easily approachable in comparison to Star Wars. I also think the demographic of this app doesn’t do Star Trek full justice for this poll

That’s true (but also becoming true for Star Wars now too). The thing that non-Star Trek fans probably don’t know is that Star Trek isn’t based on an overarching story like Star Wars is. So you can really start watching Star Trek for the first time with any of the shows you want to start with. For example, you can watch the newer Strange New Worlds show really without ever seeing Star Trek before. The JJ Abrams movies were also made a reboots to be easily accessible for newcomers

A lot of Star Wars isn’t really important to the main movies tho and in fact isn’t considered explicit canon
