You’ve won $2.500.000 after taxes. Without laboring, how long do you think you could you live on that?

I have a ton of expensive medical issues so $2.5 mil would go quickly if I’m actually getting treated

In theory you could put it into an investment account or high yield savings account and just treat the dividends like a paycheck - in reality, imma buy a plane or smth (not in a rich person way, im a student pilot)

I could theoretically live way past 40 years, but I wouldn’t want to live in nearly abject poverty for that long.

Id invest it high yield and keep living off my parents (theyre bad ppl im not just mooching to be a dick) till Im done with school and then use it to buy a home+move/vehicle/etc and keep the rest invested low risk for retirement, I wouldnt really use it to live

Why low risk? High risk/high return is the way to go when you’re young; you have 40+ years until retirement

Id rather it be there and secure and gaining slowly while I work and add to it than risk losing money 🤷‍♀️ its simply not my style, Id rather choose to work an extra 5/10 years than risk needing to work an extra 20

I just had a surgery that costs $33k. Had another surgery less than two months ago that was like $25k. My current medications add up to around $500 a month and I should have other meds but can’t afford them. I should be in frequent physical therapy which would be around $500 a month. I have frequent doctor’s appointments which is around $300 a month. In less than two months, that’s up to $60k

You’d be able to buy the best health insurance though or you could just fly to another country for surgeries

Other countries don’t have better healthcare they just have cheaper healthcare

Yeah the specialists I see in the US have people coming from all over the world to see them so going to other countries would be pointless
