Me too one thing I’m pretty big on is that the US needs to stop meddling with other countries and committing war crimes and instead should focus the money on our problems.

I don’t think you meant ill will, but departing from tradition for the sole sake of change is a reductive and inaccurate description of progressive philosophy. A progressive individual believes that well being can be improved through societal change, just as much as a conservative individual may believes stability & freedom is achieved by preserving tradition.

Someone could just as easily say “I don’t believe in following tradition for the sake of tradition”, but that would be straw manning the conservative position. Neither is arbitrarily advocating for the respective behaviors. They believe that said behavior is likely to bring about their desired outcome.
