10 above MAX it’s a speed limit to a speed suggestion. 5 is usually fine.

my approach the speed limit is what it is for a reason, if the road curves at some point there have probably been some calculations made to determine how bad a crash would be at certain speeds and that factors into the speed limit. i’ll go 5-10 over when i’m not in the right lane (i rarely if ever go full left for more than just to pass) but im not going to be sending it down the highway at 85+ mph

If you're not going at least 10 over or passing then get out of the fast lane. Yes it's illegal to speed regardless but we all know what the fast lane is really for. You'll be fine in another lane if you don't want to speed

You can get pulled over for just 5 over but I usually always go 10 over tbh

Cops in my area regularly go 20+ over with their lights off

It’s not a fast lane, it’s a passing lane. Whatever speed it takes to consistently pass cars and move over when finished passing

I live in nj and while I try my best to stay the speed limit in the right lane and no more than 15 in the passing lane, my sister regularly goes 20 over in the right lane. Although now that I think about it she has been pulled over a few times lol, though I don’t know if it was for speeding

It’s pretty simple, if someone is behind you going faster than you, move over, let them pass, then go back into the fast lane
