Layout 1 so (a) if I get bum rushed, I've got time to react and (b) so no one can see my computer screen if they open the door

I like layout 1 visually but i would prefer to live in layout 2

Layout 1 passes the Feng-shui test, while Layout 2 may make you think more creatively

Of course if someone did come over in layout 1 they'd be like where are you and you'd have to be like I'm around the corner but that's fine

Layout 1: The closet is at the foot of the bed where it belongs and the desk is at the window. Why have the bed against the window and a desk over there with the closet and my back to the door nah

Hard. I like the look of 1 better. BUT #2 gives a bit more space in one spot (ie the space that was at the end of the bed unused is now next to the desk "unused". Much easier to use it by the desk than by the bed.

I will say despite privacy concern and not wanting to get up earlier than you want i do see how you might like rays of light in the morning on your sleepy face in layout 2

You have a sensibly placed nightstand in layout 1, not way at the foot of the bed
