On the road is the objectively correct answer in terms of road law and while I understand the safety concern and empathize its also a safety concern to pedestrians for a bike traveling low road speeds on side walks. Think about strollers, kids playing, wheelchair users, elderly, etc. we simply dont have good enough bike infrastructure for it to be safe for everyone

it also definitely depends on the street, around a neighborhood or in a busier area with lots of pedestrians they should definitely use the road, but if it’s a road that mostly moves faster than a bike can and the sidewalk is pretty much open, they might as well use that

When I used to bike more I would much rather bike slowly on the sidewalk around pedestrians than bike on the road, and I still feel that way

depends on the street and the speed/skill of the cyclist but generally road

The way I see it, if a car hit a cyclist it would probably be fatal but if a cyclist hit a pedestrian both parties might get scraped up but would most likely be fine

Which is why I mentioned the actual risk groups. If an 80 year old falls on cement especially in a quick accident its not the same as if you or I did. Like I said theres no option safe for everyone.
