
It’s not super surprising to me that the proportion of men who agree with this statement is a lot higher than women. I think it’s because men get a lot more lonely since close emotional connections with your male friends are discouraged and deemed socially unacceptable. Often, the only way that men can get the emotional closeness that all humans need is through a romantic partner.
I’m not saying you’re wrong, but this angle always confuses me. In my own personal experience, it has always been just the opposite. I’ve never struggled to open up to any of my male buddies, and just about every long term friendship I’ve found with women has been shallow, conditional, or in some way manipulative
