Do you feel trans women/girl (male to female) athletes should be allowed to compete against cis women/girls (biologically female)?

In my opinion, biologically, this is wildly unfair. I feel like even though it is the minority they should 100% be competing in their own trans feminine group. A trans masculine group would be excellent as well! -female

Shoot I misclicked on the original post and voted yes bc I saw “I’m a female”. But I actually think no. Men are biologically stronger than women, and transitioning to a female still doesn’t take that away.

I hate when people turn the comments off. If you can't handle a basic feature of social media then don't post things that warrant conversation. As a cis man I'm fine with this not being my decision. I think whoever runs a competition has every right to set their own rules as to who gets to compete. If they think trans women who meet a certain requirement have no unfair advantage, then I probably won't argue with that. I do wonder if they actually account for every possible advantage though.

Banning trans women from women’s sports hurts all women

Right, though, I can see that their natural muscle mass may decreas as their hormones change. Thus why I don’t think they need to participate in male version of the sport, but rather their own league of the sport.

Exactly. Same for female to male trans people, it would put them at a disadvantage against biologically male athletes.

There simply aren’t enough trans athletes for them to have their own league. Plus, would you have trans women who aren’t on estrogen competing against trans women who are? Or would they all be required to be on E for a certain amount of time? If those requirements are going to exist anyway, then why not have them be a requirement to play on the women’s team?

Personally I don't think fairness should be compromised for inclusion though. If you can't have both, then I feel like you should choose fairness. I also don't think an organization should necessarily be shamed for banning trans athletes outright. It's not like they would be the only demographic who can't play mainstream professional sports. I get that it's hard to get a trans league going based on the relatively low number of trans people, but that's unfortunately not the majority's problem.

Okay tell me how? I argue that keeping them in womens sports hurts all women besides trans women.

Sure, I see what you’re saying. However, men are stronger than women. Most women have to work extremely hard to have the strength that men just have naturally. Is it not unfair that a woman who works extremely hard to excel in womens sports gets immediately put in second place because a biologicial man was able to participate and be heaps better than her? The worst male olympian is the best woman olympian, in most cases.

Women will be subjected to invasive gender testing, including genital inspection, just because someone accuses them of being trans. They may also (this has happened) get tested for testosterone levels, and if too high, be forced to medically alter their hormones to continue competing. Overall, banning trans women has the effect of reducing the control women have over their bodies.

Trans women on estrogen do not have the same strength that cis men do. Estrogen causes muscle atrophy in biological males

Trans women on estrogen do not then have equivalent strength to cisgender women. One thing does not mean the other

Interesting take. This sounds dystopian and upsetting, though idk how true this is. I don’t imagine it is that difficult to prove though. Unless the person did HRT before puberty, a simple x-ray can help identify via bone structure if the person is male or female.

There are differences in bone structure between sexes on average, but individuals often defy the expectation. Same for hormone levels.
