Crazy enough, there’s actually going to be an anime about a similar concept to this post People are born “genderless” but get to choose M or F at the age of 12. However, the main character has trouble deciding, even at 18 when they receive romantic interest from people of both genders—at the same time
I don’t think people enter same sex relationships for funsies. You’re either born gay or born hetero. I’ve never really been able to wrap my head around bi though. Like I don’t choose to be straight, I just am. As for interracial, most definitely. I believe a lot of people do not open themselves up to the possibilities of finding love with someone of a different ethnicity or race.
Is it just me who thinks it would be a big difference? Yes we naturally hang out around our own race but we are all of the human race. I'm sure most people would broadly have a preference for people with similar features to them but we wouldn't be so programmed around "race" specifically because it's hardly a real biological thing. And there are more than enough closeted or oppressed people in the world that there would be more gay couples even if there weren't more gay people.
And for the record I also think there would be more gay or at least bi people. I honestly don't think sexuality is this hard coded genetic thing that can't shift. It was a good argument for equality but likely not the full scientific truth. I think that in a society where being straight is much easier, many people with any natural inclination to be attracted to the opposite sex will lean into that side of themselves and either become or identify as "straight"
