by definition yes because racism is the hate towards ANY racial group, but systematic racism towards white people (excluding other factors besides race) doesn’t exist because they cannot be oppressed like poc can

I know this hasn't been said in this comment section yet, but imma just go a radical step further and say: the concept of "reverse racism" doesn't exist, it's just plain racism all the way down regardless.

I'm a POC and the answer to this is 100% yes. There are groups of White people who experience racism such as Jewish people who deal with Anti-Semitism, White Muslim people who deal with Islamphobia, and also multiracial people who are part White There's not systemic racism for all White people like it is for POC but that doesn't mean some White people can't experience racism unfortunately

It’s crazy that half the people voting don’t believe that white people cant be victims of racism period. Those here that believe that white people can never be victims of systemic racism is that strictly based on nationality? It seems like an American-centric view. Like how would you respond to examples such as white farmers in South Africa? 🇿🇦

Maybe the ratio of white people to other races affects the ratio of results here

Bigotry is the more accurate term. Racism implies the person is coming from a place of systemic power. White people create and control the systems, so other races cannot assert racism towards them. People of other races can be prejudice and bigoted towards whites, but not racist. People always used the term incorrectly.

Right, everyone once in a while I’ll run into a black person that doesn’t wanna work with me b/c I’m white. Back in college there were some black student works at a facility that literally got away with refusing service to whites. That was back in peak woke hysteria though, late 2010’s.

What if you’re white in say a majority Asian country like China? Could a white person be the victim of systemic racism then or are you saying in every country and culture white people can never be the victim of systematic racism?

It is an American-centric view, and tbh it's out of touch, like several prominent views held predominantly in America.

well yes im saying that in every country white people can’t be victims of systemic racism because white people as a whole are the ones who pretty much created systemic racism through colonialism across the globe

If we understand systemic racism as racism codified under law or governmental practices that benefits the majority ethic population over a minority I don’t see how your answer can be true. If China for instance banned all white westerners from their country wouldn’t that be an explicit example of systemic racism? Regardless of historical practices by some European countries.

no that would be xenophobia not systemic racism

Replace white westerners with just white people then.

I’m simply trying to understand your position. It’s not intuitive to me. It seems like what you’re saying is that because of historical colonialism and racism by some white European countries that no country, even a majority non-white country, can commit systemic racism against white people. That would only be considered xenophobia, is that correct?

Hard to use South Africa as an example with the history of apartheid. It wasn’t that long ago either

40 years ago isn’t exactly recent. And apartheid doesn’t justify the current regime of state sponsored violence and discrimination against whites. That’s the definition of actual systemic racism but apparently because something something colonialism it’s not racism?!

Or perhaps there are just a majority of people who haven’t been indoctrinated and understand the obvious. If you discriminate based on somebody’s race, regardless of their race, it’s racism…

we don’t actually have a concrete definition of racism, philosophers and sociologists disagree on the framework. in my opinion, however, any idea of racism that doesn’t account for white supremacy (historical and present) is inaccurate at best.

It’s ironic since you are using the term incorrectly. Racism is the discrimination that one race is superior to another. If a white person was in China they would not have any system of control.

But we aren’t in China, and I’m not using the term incorrectly.
