im bias here cause i get cold sores and yes for u immature people out there the technical medical term for it is a form of herpes, but it’s not like what most people think. its not an std or sti and most times is caused by genetics, ive had mine my whole life and its gone most the time unless its winter or a dramatic season change

I get cold sores & have had multiple partners who never got one in their life & still never did after me , fun fact: 50-80% of the adult population under age 50 has oral herpes but remains asymptomatic. As long as you’re not kissing someone w an open sore or bump on your mouth snd you manage the condition it’s fine

For anyone who’s commented on this about getting them, there’s a prescription med you can get that will stop the formation of one if you take it when you feel one coming (iykyk), it’s called Valacyclovir (Valtrex), it is prescription only but can def be given by a primary care doctor w/refills! Every time I feel one coming I take valtrex and the next day or two it goes away !

I mean the vast majority of people have herpes. A lot of people just don’t know they have herpes because of poor sex Ed and people not showing symptoms. You can also just get valtrex now to deal with any outbreaks making it manageable. If I like someone then yeah I’ll date them

Yes. My boyfriend has had them since he was a child and he almost never gets them, and when he does, it’s not a big deal. It’s like having a pimple.

I agree. My bf gets them also but I’m still with him. Most ppl are asymptomatic and don’t even know they have but then say “I would never date someone with that”. A lot of ppl are uneducated about it

for real and its absolutely terrifying knowing that as a person with it. cause yk most people do want love and the simple fact that people just make u out to be this freak not only lowers ur chances for love but self confidence too.

I’ve had them since I was a kid, unfortunately. My entire family gets them basically. All it takes is a parent/caretaker/anyone to share drinks, give a lil smooch, or even touch their cold sore then touch you for it to be transferred. I never knew it wasn’t normal til around middle school 🤷‍♀️ if you get them, just be aware & manage it responsibly

The dose that works for me is 1g prn (but it is usually given in either 500mg or 1g, I usually will take 2 500mg if needed) it depends on your body weight and severity of symptoms primarily I believe
