what are your thoughts on couples not sleeping in the same bed? (instead, they sleep in different beds/ different rooms) would you want this for yourself?

Okay the sauce is that my bf and I actually have separate rooms. We almost always sleep together in his room in his bed BUT we do have our own dedicated spaces when we need it and I think that does wonders for a relationship

I would love to have separate rooms tbh so I can still have my own space and style but we just have sleepovers every night lmao

I like the idea of different rooms but always sharing a bed, fun to mix it up but you each get your own personalized space or something idk

I met an older couple that even live in separate houses across the street from each other. I think it’s great

i like my own space and it doesn’t mean you can’t still sleep in each others rooms all the time

I think it’s healthy to have separate bedrooms

I dont want it to be a regular to sleep separately but Id be more than happy with us each having our own bedroom, theres something cute and fun about grabbing my pillow and my favorite throw to go have a sleepover in my boyfriends room even if its just down the hall lol

As someone who just wants to be able to unwind in their own space at the end of the day/night, I would prefer my own room but not opposed to same bed on the occasion It’s a comfort thing for me

I snore and also have a very strong need for private quiet time. It could be the loml and I’d still want even a separate apartment, not for anything shady I just can’t live on top of someone like that

There’s nowhere I’d rather sleep than next to my partner ā˜ŗļø but if someone is sick or needs space for the night having an additional bed in a guest room or whatever is really nice

I prefer to sleep in the same bed and cuddle but if she doesn’t want to that’s a red flag to me

My wife and I sleep in different rooms. There’s all sorts of reasons to do it.

Sleeping over frequently and cuddling can still happen just not like. Why does it have to be a shared room. Anyway

for me, im a super light sleeper and even the slightest movement from another person will keep me up and ill get zero sleep.. is it just not your preference, or do you actually think its a red flag?

I just want to be close to them and wake up next to them honestly. If I sleep in my own bed I’m going to naturally become more detached from them and I don’t want that

Would make me feel like they don’t want to sleep next to me for some reason they won’t tell me

You get used to the movement, I grew up not even waking up to gun shots (I lived in a rural area with a hunting family) or fire alarms bc I shared a room with my sister who has cystic fibrosis so she would cough all night long so I tuned it out

maybe you got used to it, but no, not everybody can. ive been in multiple long term relationships and in every one of them, ive been sleep deprived to the point where it affected my health, my grades, and nearly caused a car accident šŸ’€ i just dont seem to be able to function well when sleeping in the same bed as another human, but thats ok

Lmfao wtf? I just grew up with lots of noise as the youngest of 4. I probably was able to adjust so well because I was young, but yeah those are extreme things I’m able to sleep through I’m not rlly sure what else I could’ve used as an example?? My brothers the same way

dude you're completely missing the point and thats why you're being downvoted. you're using your personal experiences to invalidate others, saying "you get used to it" not everybody is like you. every human is different. respectfully, you're coming off as very socially unaware and oblivious

Awe that’s not my intent! I was offering an alternative solution in a way, that maybe you would be able to adjust overtime, and used my personal experience as an example :( I’m sorry if I made you feel that way, I understand it must be difficult to contemplate how that might effect future relationships ā¤ļø
