Should I (22F) get a guinea pig? I’m pretty lonely but I don’t know how expensive they are to maintain and I only work a part time job that pays the same an hour as my age 🥀

Maybe actually research how expensive they are and then see if it’ll fit into your budget

It would definitely feel more like a companion than a fish but absolutely do research beforehand on caring for it!!

I’d say wait. Definitely do more research. Sometimes, depending on the animal-they all have generally the same behavior BUT every animal is different personality wise. You might get one that requires a lot of attention & you seem to be pretty busy.

Yes guinea pigs were my first pets and they were great! I'd recommend getting 2 girls to keep them happy

I would recommend an animal that can be potty trained like a rat or hedgehog, guinea pigs poop everywhere and smell soooo bad (from someone who’s hate Guinea pigs, rats, and a hamster)

Please dont buy an animal if you cant afford to take care of them!

if you do, it’s highly recommended to get two because guinea pigs can get depressed being alone and sometimes die because of it

Theres nothing bitter abt this I absolutely agree, they 'die quick' because people dont research proper care and expenses before getting them, same with hamsters and other gerbils. Do your research and decide if you think its viable for you. Theyre lovely to have if theyre within your means
