If riding coach, then train. Other than that, it depends who’s paying for the “roomette” on the train or first-class “suite” on the plane

my thing is if i’m going on that long of a flight, i’m definitely going somewhere new, but a 12 hour train ride can absolutely land me still in the usa lol

There’s more to see on a plane ride. And this is coming from someone who hates flying

Highly disagree, most long haul flights will be super high altitude, likely above the clouds at points and too far to have good views. A train you’ll see much more detail and variety
