I feel like waiting until marriage made sense back when people were getting married when they were 16

How is it outdated? People wait until marriage because they want to raise a child in a planned, functional family. Why would anyone even want to risk having a child out of wedlock? The whole point of waiting until marriage is to ensure stability and readiness for a child.

Im not saying that’s always the reason why people have sex, but no matter the reason and protection, there will always be a chance of a baby.

Girl what? The vast majority of people want to raise a child in a planned, functional family. That does not equate to waiting until marriage. It’s 2025, contraception is 99% effective.

Also even for people that do wait till marriage, this argument doesn’t even necessarily apply. Contraception could be 100% effective (so no “there will always be a chance of a baby”) and they would still abstain till marriage. Reserving the emotional and physical intimacy of sex for the person someone marries (whether for religious reasons or otherwise) applies regardless of if there’s no chance of a baby.

What about gay people? Is there always a chance of a baby for us? Should we wait until marriage so we don’t have kids out of wedlock?

And it’s outdated because the belief is based in 1950s Christian evangelism
