Legal immigration good, illegal no, but for recording purposes not as a limit to the number of immigrants so legal immigration should be much more accessible.

Border security should be tightened to reduce the number of illegal immigrants, illegal immigrants already present should be given a moderately accelerated track to more legitimate citizenship, but should be treated with a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to criminal/exploitative behavior. Legal immigrants are chill

Legal good illegal no, but like #2 said, the system needs a fix and current illegal immigrants should still be treated like human beings and given tracks to do things the right way under stricter policy if they commit any crimes

We need to fix the legal process for immigration. No illegal immigration would be preferable, but it’s understandable that is happens at the rate at it does when the legal process is so flawed

As an immigration lawyer, an issue I have is that many conservatives are calling asylum seekers “illegal” but they are going through a legal process. The law provides a right to seek asylum even if you entered illegally. And this administration is detaining people who have pending cases + a legal right to be here

Another thing is yall don’t realize how few legal pathways there are. It’s not the same as when most of your ancestors came here. The only pathways are family petitions, employment (which requires a job offer before you’re able to come), or humanitarian (I.e. asylum). There is no pathway for people that just wanna come work and make a better life

And for humanitarian protections you have to be in the country first before you can get them so it’s not a path to enter legally. The previous administration was using parole to allow many of these people to enter legally and then apply for asylum but this current administration ended that. And demonized the previous administration for it

This is the 100% correct way to go about immigration

But we don’t have enough legal immigration pathways or courts to facilitate legal immigration needed for the jobs that immigrants do.

What is a “moderately accelerated track to more legitimate citizenship”? Can you tell me the ways someone can get LPR status, and then eventually citizenship?

Can I tell you? No. I do engineering, so that’s not my job, and I do not have time for it. I highly doubt it’s impossible though
