Do they hate us? I think they’re just ambitious and are a rising power. And when a rising power’s influence starts to rival a declining ones, that inevitably leads to conflict historically. I don’t think they necessarily hate us, they’re actually pretty respectful and courteous compared to like Iran or Putin

No not even close they have 25 - 35 million Christians and America has 160 - 200 million

I never realized the Chinese lacked so much organized religion in their population 50 - 90 % of the population is supposedly atheist

Eh so maybe 50 percent of people have a combination of Chinese folk religion , Buddhism, Christianity, Islam and whatever else but mostly the 1st 2. Does Chinese folk really count idk. I guess it must but how much structure really is there to that. I don’t imagine much

In both the USSR and Communist China, there was a concerted effort to eradicate organized religion, followed by the fastest and most comprehensive programs of modernization, education, and industrialization in human history. You might have your causality backwards

1st of all the big claim of that is just wrong mostly but even if we granted it as fact, Was that before or after the mass famines / starving, crippled economic productivity / destruction, dead livestock, political prisons / labor camps, millions dead If killing tens of millions to produce economically useless steel in backyard furnaces and taking over a decade, even several to do it, is considered the fastest & most comprehensive industrialization & modernization in human history then sure. atheism doesn't mean a lack of morals - it simply means self built morals vs a given code. most atheists i know agree with the christian morals of "love your neighbor", "don't commit murder", "don't commit adultery", "be kind and generous", etc. i'd really recommend you read kant for a humanistic perspective on atheism :)
