It’s actually important as a reminder that fascists will go after all minorities and you’re not safe from their tyranny h ust because you’re not ‘the enemy’

As a Jewish person, No. It was a holocaust of human beings, based on broad categories of human, not just one group of people. The word holocaust has power because it is a mass slaughter of unimaginable magnitude

It’s important to remember that although Jewish people were a large target of the Nazis they weren’t the only ones. If we forget how the Nazis treated those of different skin colors, sexualities, nationalities, immigrants, women, etc, then we are bound to repeat the same mistakes.

Admittedly I have wondered whether the holocaust should be considered a crime against humanity or a crime against the Jewish people

It was also a crime against queer people. Lets not forget the pink triangle here.

The Jewish people weren’t even the first targets entering the Holocaust. It started with easier and smaller groups such as openly gay and trans people and escalated to persecuting the Jewish community. If a fascist government begins successfully attacking the weakest among you there is nothing stopping them from attacking a larger group.
