The president, his cabinet, the senate, and the house should be drug tested for hard drugs like opiates, meth, and cocaine. Shouldn’t remove them from office, but public should have info

If this happened suddenly it would come out that some of the positives were “false” or “this person has this prescription/this person ate this causing that” etc

if there’s no reasonable suspicion it’s currently happening AND interfering with the ability to do their job, the money & resources would be better expended elsewhere

Hey if they have a prescription, ok. But they’re serving the people. I don’t want my Secretary of State on coke

i see nonprofessionals speculating that he may be on cocaine in one specific instance. that’s a far cry from being “coked out all the time.” people’s tolerance to cocaine increases incredibly quickly, and in order to be “coked out all the time,” they’d have to do an increasing amount with increasing frequency to the point it wouldn’t be sustainable to hold a job. you can not like a person and not like cocaine, but that doesn’t mean the two are automatically related.

do i do cocaine? no. do i think politicians should be punished for doing it in their off time more than anyone else caught with an illegal drug? also no. it requires finite resources to test/investigate/punish that, and having worked in dc on that scene, i don’t think it’s realistic to expect people not to party when most of their job is networking with other politicians.
