My dorm was like literally from 1908 and had bathroom shared either neighbor. We had old ass people visiting and being like 👵🏻 “I stayed in the room in NINETEEN fifty fourrr”

We had single deluxes that came with a private bathroom. So she had her own bathroom and room, and so did I. We shared a kitchen only

My school has fully communal br dorms, suites with a br and common room and then 2 doubles that share it, what they call a residential block where its 3 doubles and 2 brs, townhouses which are basically apartments with a communal br (12-24 ppl each) and actual apartments that are also 2-3 doubles with a bathroom in unit

This makes me scared to move into a dorm. I hope the school I transfer to at least has it shared with only the roommate 😭

Our biggest difference in dorms for my school is actually just who has a kitchen or common room(s) theres very few places where you'd be sharing a br with more than a couple roommates or suitemates (which you can select so its usually friends anyways)

They probably go to a smaller school where it’s sometimes common to have apartment style housing instead of traditional dorms.

Communal is common obviously, but lots of schools have “suite” options with private bathrooms for a bit more money too, or at least mine did
