SSRIs helped me a little. That’s probably what you will be given first. The med that finally helped me a lot after like 12 years of no improvement was mirtazapine, but it has really bad side effects and is off-label for OCD so it wouldn’t be given unless other meds weren’t helpful. I was also really nervous when I started medication. I was worried that either I wouldn’t be me more anymore and/or I would be in danger because I wasn’t doing the OCD things. seroquel saved my life, but i have severe treatment resistant ocd. take with grain of salt and do NOT try seroquel first, as it is a last resort. try ssri’s first like they are saying !!! ocd festers in anxiety, so anxiety meds help too
