I made my first therapy appointment to get help for what I suspect is OCD (or at least anxiety, nothing diagnosed) and now I’m nervous and feel like cancelling bc what if I don’t actually have it and am just lying to myself and also this therapist lol

Keep the appointment! You don’t know for sure, and they are there to help you figure it out. It is okay to be wrong, but be wrong with someone who can help you feel better

I’m mostly nervous bc I have no idea how therapy works. Can I even go if I don’t have a diagnosis? Lmao

This is actually a really common OCD and anxiety thought. “What if I’m a fraud and there’s nothing wrong with me?” Every person I know who has this thought would really benefit from therapy :)

You don’t need a diagnosis! Therapy is for everyone

Also, you will probably spend the first day giving your therapist your background and what made you come in

Okay good to know, thank you!! I’m gonna try to just keep it and try it at LEAST once, if I hate it I don’t have to go back

You got this!!! No matter what happens, therapy is good for everyone, so don’t feel like you need to deny yourself an appointment 💕
