Anyone else nonbinary but afraid to correct people on pronouns or generally making it known? I don't do a genderneutral look, so people just assume. And I'm afraid of ppl just going "oh you just wanna be sPeCiAl" once I tell them

Small addition: I do tell ppl on occasion and some just find out since I don't really hide it, but I've had a wide range of reactions :/

Yeah I’m AMAB and enjoy a gender expression that’s like “long hair pretty boy” And even then I’m like ehhh… I’ll tell my friends I’m they/them, but everyone else I just live with being misgendered cause I don’t want to make it a problem

Extra bonus level: I tell people I’m they/them the first time they meet me, I dress androgynous, and still only get she/her’d 😒

tbh i was in the same situation for a really long time. I don’t correct everyone since that’s a lot of taxing mental effort but the people i know i’ll be interacting with day to day or more frequently i do. Correcting people is a muscle and it gets easier the more you do it. I use just hit the “hey no big deal but i use he/they pronouns!” and most of the time that’s all it takes. I really encourage yall to kinda stand up for your identity and who you are, nobody else will do it for you typeshit

And you know what? People who judge you for your life choices can go f*ck themselves, you have every right to be who you are

Unless someone asks, I don’t say anything. I present myself fairly femininely so people assume and I don’t correct them unless they’re close to me and I’ve told them already.

I have a friend who’s amab, very masc presenting (beard, style, etc.), but they’re agender and all of our friends, including my gfs, use he/him for them and it makes me sad cause like noooo

I have a friend who presents like that, but everyone calls them by their pronouns, which feels so great to see :D sucks that they get misgendered by profs and classmates but that’s a lot harder to avoid
