how do you deal with dressing/presenting visibly trans? I’m trans fem nb and get terrified by the idea of wearing a crop top in public…

The best way to overcome that anxiety is by presenting that way in mundane situations. Kinda sub-optimal sounding advice, but genuinely it will not be that bad. You will catch some occasionally glares and glances, but you will probably get more compliments

basically become more fashionable just all around. i like wearing things that have some amount of subtlety to them but still feel fem, like you dont necessarily need to get crop tops if you just get ahold of some womens tops since they fit differently, and alongside high waisted pants and a cardigan is a very subtle look that still feels good since you dont have to show any skin. i got a lot of these from thrifting but ive recently been getting into crocheting and making things myself (1/3)

accessories are also a game changer. if you arent a fan of trans pins then you can go with jewelry/chains and belts. with these, a trick that ive been using recently is leaning into alt fashion styles, since they tend to be pretty androgynous while having subtlety to it. idk about you but if i see someone whose goth or emo i just assume they are queer. hot topic is great for getting ahold of this type of stuff and pinterest is your friend if you are trying to find your style (2/3)

for instance a shirt with a torn shoulder looks similar to an off shoulder shirt with a tanktop or bra underneath. similarly, you can wrap a jacket around your waist for like a pseudo skirt or even do multiple with some leggings or tights for a cool look. i wore this to a family gathering with some distant relatives who didnt know and didnt get any questions but i still felt good (3/3)

For me, the idea of reducing misgendering was a big motivator. Expressing gender through clothes led to a lot less hims and sirs
