why didn't italy just get a bunch of italian american nhlers who didn't make the american olympic team? i feel like that might get better results than what they have

though there is some stuff about eligibility bc normally you can't play for multiple national teams throughout your career and i don't remember who had played for the us national team in the past but they could potentially get a special exemption bc it's the home olympic team
