The stupidest argument someone has ever given me: “practice is not a game, which is what people care about, and which won’t be on TV, so therefore NO football next week” Yes, that’s an actual argument someone gave me today.

They have a point tbh. By no means can training camp be considered the return of football. The season starts with kickoff

Re-read the post. It’s not about whether trainikh camp is the return of the football season. The guy was saying a game can be called football, but a ***FOOTBALL*** practice can’t be called football. What else can a football practice be called then? Tennis? Hockey? Baseball? No. Whether it’s a game or it’s a practice, the name of the sport remains the same: FOOTBALL

It’s still not the actual start of the season and most fans aren’t gonna get much out of it especially if their team doesn’t have open practices. The most I can agree to is the first preseason game. Besides OTAs and minicamps and shit were AGES ago so it’s not even the first practice

Again: the argument isn’t whether training camp is or isn’t the start of the season. Learn how to read. The argument is whether practice is still football, even if it’s not a game. Does the name of the sport magically change just because it’s not a televised game? No. They’re practicing FOOTBALL. They’re doing FOOTBALL drills. Hence, it’s called FOOTBALL. Again: nothing to do with whether it’s the start of the season or not.

Yeah but football season itself doesn’t start until kickoff or at least the hall of fame game and teams have been having OTAs and minicamps since the draft so it’s not that accurate to say football is back for the start of training camp when by that definition it’d already be back

The post, ONCE AGAIN, IDIOT, isn’t about whether or not the NFL is back. The post, FUCKING IDIOT, is about someone thinking practice isn’t called football. What sport are the players practicing? Is it baseball? Is it tennis? Is it ballet? Whether it’s a game, or a practice, the NAME of the sport doesn’t change. hence why it’s called FOOTBALL. If there’s a FOOTBALL practice this week, then FOOTBALL (the sport) is back. That doesn’t mean the season is back. It means the SPORT (FOOTBALL) is back.
