Or maybe it’s bc their coaching staff got absolutely massacred and they lost valuable pieces. Too much turnover to go back to being dominant. Give it another season to decide if they’re ass (they’re not, well maybe Holmes is)

Eagles followed up a season of getting their staff raided and losing valuable peaces by going 14-3 and winning a Super Bowl. This lions team isn’t doing that

When the Eagles lost Steichen and Gannon they went to the playoffs and lost in the first round. They also didn’t lose much besides their coordinators, they retained a lot of their other staff which the Lions weren’t able to as Johnson and Glenn poached a lot of them. Lions also lost key players on top of this. There’s a difference between having your staff poached and cleaning house to upgrade your staff.

The year you’re thinking of is 2 years after both coordinators left for HC jobs where they had Fangio and Moore and got Saquon in FA

I’m aware of the 2023 Eagles. The difference is the Eagles have a competent GM who is constantly making moves to improve the roster. Meanwhile Brad Holmes hasn’t made a good draft pick since 2023 and actively sat on his ass this past offseason. Unless he has a miracle draft again and the lions make another deep postseason run, I don’t know how you can justify running it back

Maybe it’s bc they knew they had to resign key players to big deals and it’s not his fault that picks got bad injury luck + drafting CBs is hard even if guys look like absolute locks. Howie has also had some pretty questionable picks/drafts. Be patient for fucks sake, one down year after being a playoff team for a couple years and going to the NFCCG does not mean you’re going back to poverty.

That’s all I’ve heard from every sports talking head and NFL fans on social media. That Ben Johnson was the only reason Detroit was ever good and now the bears will be perennial Super Bowl contenders while the lions will be basement dwellers forever again.

The team is a QB away from being there and there’s good developmental guys in the upcoming draft and being this reactive to one down year after being in good hands for a couple years is pathetic, get a grip
