People are really seeing how awful the Chargers OL & play calling are and are still saying it’s Herbert’s fault 🫥. Yall if Herbert wasn’t the Chargers QB they’d have won like 6 games at most.

My respect for Herbert has gone through the roof this season, he deserves better. I hope McDaniel is his OC next year

Wins are an Oline stat

This o-line is dogshit and it’s unfortunate that Herbert doesn’t have more help around him. That being said, elite quarterbacks are able to perform in big moments despite the talent around them. Herbert hasn’t shown he can do that. If he needs good players around him to be good, how is he any different than someone like Goff?

Herbert has somehow carried this pathetic offense to 11

They would look completely different with Slater and Alt

There’s a stat that if they would’ve won this game it would’ve been the worse OL group to win a playoff game since like 2006 or some crazy shit like that

They win this game with alt and slater. Your interior oline caving immediately is a death sentence for literally any kind of play but when Herbert trusted his oline because of the tackle(s) he was getting mvp hype

This is genuinely the worst offensive line I’ve ever seen

The Chargers are genuinely 2-3 injuries from being serious Super Bowl contenders

It’s even more pathetic that the Chargers invested in IOL in the offseason and those guys were ass when they played

This isn’t a normal bad OL. This was a generationally bad OL + absolute dog shit play calling. There is nothing Herbert can do if he’s getting pressured in less than 2 seconds and Roman’s dumb ass is trying to use Ladd as a deep threat (he’s a YAC receiver). Herbert literally had to run backwards like it was a screen pass just to get a pass off. None of what Herbert went through is comparable to a QB dealing with some pressure and they have to throw a guy open.

You can’t blame all of Herbert’s faults on the o-line. There were plays when he was scrambling out of the pocket for no reason, or trying to force the ball downfield when he had a running lane. Yes, this line is dogshit (that 4th down at the end was horrendous), but they didn’t break down on every play. Herbert made bad calls all night, even when he wasn’t pressured. And the elite QBs have been able to overcome the same issues. Lamar won an MVP and a playoff game with Greg Roman. Burrows had

success with an equally horrible, if not worse o-line. Mahomes won a superbowl throwing to absolute buns at WR. Herbert doesn’t deserve a seat at the table with these guys. He’s a very good QB, maybe he would be great on the Lions or Eagles. But he’s not elite, he’s not a drag the team to the finish line kind of guy. You can’t keep making excuses for him

I don’t think you’re understanding how bad this OL was. Burrow didn’t have an equally bad or worse OL bc if this OL got dragged to a win it would’ve been the worse OL unit to be apart of a playoff win since like 2006. I also don’t think you understand what happens when a QB is under pressure not just an entire game but also the entire season. They start not trusting the OL and their internal clock is going faster, which means they’re making 1 maybe 2 reads and then getting rid of the ball.

Herbert has overcome this awful OL by dragging this sorry ass team to the playoffs, which btw the Chargers have had 20+ OL variations this season. There’s very few other QBs that are dragging that shit team to the playoffs. BTW Lamar, Mahomes, & Burrow had much better OL units and or receivers. The thing is Herbert doesn’t need crazy receivers or an elite OL he just needs an avg unit to perform at his highest level.
