What if the pro bowl were played with some Savannah Bananas-type rules so that even if it was played half-assed the players and fans would actually enjoy it

I went to a globetrotters game one time and it was pretty fun and it sure banana games are great too.

I voted sometimes, that’s why I think it works as a once a year all star kind of thing. You get the yes and sometimes voters watching the game, and the no voters probably weren’t gonna watch anyways (also they need to bring back the proper skills competition like the 90s and early 2000s) -oop

I think that’s a fair take. They need to lean into the entertainment/fun part or play real football and not straddle the fence like they do right now with the flag football

Historically speaking across sports the all star games began so audiences could watch the stars from other teams they didn’t get to see (bc there weren’t national games except championships) but nowadays that’s just not a need for people because media is global now, so it’s only value comes from the entertainment factor for everyone involved, and when it’s just regular football with no reason for existing it’s just so bad

And it being a limited, once-a-year thing (on top of the rules being designed for entertainment first) only builds the gravitas Put it back in Hawaii (or even make THESE the international games) so that players are excited to see exotic places with their league mates when they get invited to Paris or Tokyo or Singapore for a week of shenanigans
