This isn’t an anti Caleb Williams post. There’s just undeniably better options. Stafford, Micah, Watt, Rodgers (as a legacy thing), Jefferson, Chase, Kelce, Dak, Garrett, and Derrick Henry to name a few
Going with CW13 is weird considering they could’ve used the league MVP

i don’t disagree, but i think aside from maybe JSN, bo nix, drake maye, etc. the past season put a lot of focus on caleb williams & that’s the direction madden has been trending. as in, who is the trending player not who are the most talented or deserving

Don’t forget reigning Super Bowl MVP (among active quarterbacks) Jalen Hurts

I agree there’s undeniably better options but wtf is that list😂. Micah practically didn’t play last year, Watts past his prime and not good enough for it (only two defensive players ever on Madden cover, Ray Lewis and Richard Sherman), Jefferson and lowkey Chase had an off year especially compared to JSNs year as the offensive player of year, Kelce had a bad year, and Dak in his 10th year didn’t take his team as far as Caleb in his 2nd😂

it’s about marketability not just success on the field. they knew the hate CW would get, that probably played a big part in that choice.

jersey sales aren’t a metric of marketability, and i’m not saying that other guys weren’t more deserving of it either. they want to get people talking about the game, and look what the caleb choice has us doing.

mb lol you’re right it is one. i meant not the most important metric, and caleb was 6th in it last year anyways. the rest of what i said still applies.

What the actual fuck do you mean Micah practically didn’t play last year?!?! He only missed 3 games and was first team all pro with 12 and a half sacks. To be honest if he hadnt gotten hurt he probably would’ve only played 2 more games because the packers would’ve been in a position where they could rest their starters. Like everything else you have a point except for Chase though, but that statement about Micah is incredibly boneheaded and dense
