Now, if they had went with an american artist, they face the risk of losing out of part of their exisiting market due to genres. Pick a country artist and you lose almsot every consumer from other genres as they hate country. Pick a rap artist and you still split the market. Any artist from America would instantly split their current market in some way. Picking bad bunny and there is little to no split at all, you just lose out on your existing market. But with all that they can gain, its worth
This enables them to tap into a market that is bigger than the USA’s market, AND you dont have to worry about splitting that. Not to mention, if bad bunny does his job and creates new fans of the NFL, there is now a consistent demand for consumers in those markets. The NFL is as much of a business as Walmart or Palantir is
Bad bunny has 85 million followes on social media, and is one of the worlds biggest spanish speaking artist (if not the biggest). Spanish is oneof the top most spoken languages behind english. It makes sense. The market that they can reach with him will bring in so much more money than 99% of American fans careto admit
Personally I think anyone who complains about the Super Bowl artist is stupid. As long as it is an artist with a large enough fan base to sell out 100k fan shows then it’s a reasonable pick. You aren’t always gonna like the artist but that’s how music is. Some people like Jon pardi some people like bad bunny and some people like Kendrick Lamar. You can’t cater to everyone.
