We have zero edges except Femi who’s a second round rookie coming off a broken leg and a 7th round guy Jaylen Harrell. Yes sweat is a better player at his position than Johnson is but we don’t even have edges. It came down to need. We needed a body at edge and Johnson was available. We have 120 mil in cap. We can find a sweat replacement and pay Johnson

Gotcha. I’m seeing a lot of people talk about how there are very few good free agents at DT but a lot of good edge rushers so I figured they’d just sign to guys to play DE

Yeah but then we are dipping in the bag of over thirty or less productive this is middle ground. I think this is a rare both teams have value especially with scheme. Johnson fits what Saleh wants to run ( Saleh drafted Johnson) and Aaron Glenn’s scheme fits more what sweat does. In addition to that add in the fact the jets get to have their pick of edge options at two, and the titans have either Edge three or WR1/ Jeremiah love you see how this came to be. Jets are moving Johnson for the top guy
