I feel like something that isn’t talked about enough is the outrageous amount of money these players make. Like yes they should make a good amount of money, but I’m disappointed that none of these guys are willing to take a pay cut to build a better team

Oh they’re absolutely willing, but the agents aren’t. I remember it came out Jalen hurts said he absolutely didn’t want to hinder the team with a massive contract and his agent went and demanded he be the highest paid player in the league, but just kick it all back so it doesn’t cook the cap, yet. If everyone like negotiated their contracts like Roquan smith I think the highest paid for each position would be about like 5-10 mil a year less

Like look at the Pittsburgh penguins in the NHL they’re gonna have like 50 mil in cap space next year and some players are getting paid over 10 mil. Sidney Crosby on the other hand will only accept being paid 8.7 mil.

And with some of these guys I’m like is there really a difference between you making 40 or 30 mil in the NFL? You can already afford everything with 20 Mil HONESTLY! So why not take a cut and let your team make a Super Bowl attempt??(

Except for receiver and edge Jamarr Chase and Micah are greedy ass motherfuckers. Not to mention watt getting 40 a year raised the edge market so much because like he 100% didn’t deserve that much and agents see he’s making that much and actively use that to bargain

I guarantee will anderson’s agent is gonna say “tj watt is old and only had 7 sacks this year and makes 40 therefore my client should make 50 million” . Also completely ignoring that the best edge in the league Garrett makes 40 a year as well, because that would (and should) cap it out at least until 2027 or 28 when the broadcast rights are renegotiated and the cap jumps

Really really interesting story actually the reason tight ends make so little is because gronk’s first contract back in the day actually DID cap the tight end market, since he was somewhat underpaid and he signed such a long fucking contract for the longest times guys asked for a big number and GMs just said “well gronk makes this much and he’s way better than you so no”. 8 mil a year for 6 fucking years. So the market could never adjust because the contract was so long

You’re good. I’d also like to add Myles Garrett to the convo. Does he absolutely deserve to be one of the highest paid players? Yes. But the browns have SO MANY missing pieces it makes you wonder
