I’d say Baltimore than Pittsburgh bc Baltimore already has their QB figured out.

I think Atlanta and Vegas also have the makings of very attractive jobs

Honestly the Raiders are the most appealing team that hasn’t had recent success, I love Mendoza as a prospect, they’ve got a ton of cap space, a ton of draft capital, and if they move Crosby like I think they will they’ll have even more cap space and draft capital to build for the future. If they handle this rebuild right they could be very interesting

I think ATL is in the middle of the pack strictly bc their QB situation is rough. I do like the Raiders situation a lot, although I don’t think drafting Mendoza is the right move with how many holes they have on OL + in the WR room.

I think it’s tough to be at number one with a quarterback who may not be the most talented/highest ceiling guy but certainly has the ability to be a very good quarterback (he’s most comparable to Jared Goff in my opinion) and not take him. There’s no guarantee you’ll be picking this high again so you take the quarterback even with holes in other places, especially because they’ve got so much money to spend in free agency. I would be shocked if they didn’t sign/trade for a couple guys on the line

And with Bowers I think they can get away with having some mediocre receivers, though I’d be shocked if they don’t draft at least one on day 2 (I really like Germie Bernard and Elijah Surratt as receivers in that range)

I comp Mendoza to Matt Ryan or if he reaches his full potential Andrew Luck. Dante Moore is more similar to Goff but with legs.

I was more thinking about what he’d be as a pro, a guy you can win a bunch with but not necessarily the kind of guy who gets thrown in top 5 conversations

But those are definitely better comps

I get that, I’d say prime Matt Ryan was top 10 but not ever really top 5. If a QB had Goff comps I’d stay far af away from him with a 1st round pick.

Fair enough, but my point still stands. If Mendoza could be a Matt Ryan to Andrew Luck type of QB you have to take him, you can’t pass on that guy when your franchise has been desperately seeking a QB since Derek Carr fell apart
