The Mike Tomlin hate stems from multiple things: 1) he has never built a team that has won the Super Bowl (he used Bill’s team), 2) he does the same plays from when he started and any person with half of a brain can figure out the call, 3) he picks OC&DC
I really don’t understand the mike tomlin hate, the fact that he can drag is old decrepit mid ass team to the playoffs is astonishing

Two things can be true… he is a hall of fame coach but it’s also time to move on. He won’t make the necessary changes because he is so stuck in his ways. He is a defense first coach in an offense first league. Which would be fine if he would hire an OC and let them actually run the offense. He wants to stick to the Steeler identity which is outdated. It beats some really bad teams, does enough in the division, and they win one ugly game against a good team that gets them their 9 wins.

so that they fit his play calling. And last I checked our OC really sucks and our DC is mediocre/sucks.

Just one bad season could change the trajectory and allow them to get the franchise QB they need. Instead they are content with drafting around 20 each year and just finding a mediocre QB in free agency that can continue “the standard.”

Yup. And the moment we fire him, we’ll get a crap ton of hate because “at least we made the playoffs”. I’ve already been through this once (James Franklin w/ Penn State)

I agree with most but the “He is a hall of fame coach” you’re not a HOF coach if you’ve been the HC for 19 years and have only 4 seasons where you’ve won a playoff game. One of those seasons (and most accomplished season) being with Bills team/staff. And that’s just one thing that takes away from him being a HOF coach, there’s more…

And it’s frustrating to see young coaches who are willing to adapt all the time to what the game situations are and then have Tomlin stick to his guns because it’s done just enough for him each year. When Tomlin ultimately decides to walk away hopefully they hire a young coach that’s willing to let his coordinators do their job and make adjustments as needed. Not just play the “blue collar” football the Steelers play game in and game out
