I remember when yy had a bunch of annoying Lions fans that weren’t happy when I said they wouldn’t have a huge contender window & that Goff would hold them back…I wonder where they’re at now?

Holmes choked their window away by not making aggressive moves to put the team over the edge.

Never had a window.

I mean Decker wasn’t that great last year so i actually am not that upset we lost him. And Goff was not the reason we sucked last year. Now im not saying we’re gonna be fine I want Brad to do more personally but I don’t think losing Decker is as big of a deal as people think

To say that is being disingenuous, when Johnson was there and their offense was steamrolling teams almost every week was when they had their shot. They were also beating the 49ers but some errors by players and coaching decisions choked their lead away. After that season it was very clear that unless they make some splash moves, they’re not going to be a legit contender & they didn’t make splash moves.

That team was not beating the chiefs in the playoffs. They barely beat a chiefs team without travis Kelce and Chris jones week 1, and they only won by 1 point because of a Kadarius Toney tip six. Lions never had a shot. Even if they did beat San Fran, chiefs would’ve dog walked that lions defense

23 and 24 Lions were a fluke, only beating up on bad team, and getting destroyed by competent teams

This and he didn’t set them up for the future

I don’t think you understand what a contenders window is. People aren’t saying they’d without a doubt beat everyone BUT they’d have a good chance to go to the SB and maybe win it. The Lions proved that they were contenders when they almost won the NFCCG.

They never had a good chance. One fluke year doesn’t mean they’re “contenders”

You don’t have to have multiple years of contention to be considered a contender for a singular year

I’d much rather try to rebuild the O-Line than trying to save face with it. If that makes any sense. But then again I’m an optimist

Yeah; you do. Chiefs are contenders. Dolphins were never contenders

The OL essentially needs an overhaul besides Sewell, Goff is fine in the regular season but constantly holds them back in the playoffs and did not deserve the contract that he got. It’s okay to have a game manager/system QB as long as they’re making it hard to build a team around them. On top of this it looks like DC has been struggling to replace Ben with a competent OC. Unless drastic changes are made the future for the Lions is bleak.
