DAE struggle to make friends w other autistic people? I always hear people say it’s easier but it’s the exact opposite for me. Only ever made 1 autistic friend. And I’ve tried very hard. Allistics are much easier to talk to for me for some reason

yes i find that i don’t fw other autistic ppl. our needs often contradict and some common traits really mess with my ability to communicate the way i need to

I'm autistic and autistic or not, I get along best with people who have ADHD.

I get that! To me (also have ADHD) since there’s inattentive, hyperactive, combined, ADHD doesn’t guarantee someone has a specific personality type? Of course there’s the shared symptoms, though, so I get how it could help

definitely, but I think people with ADHD are either less likely to notice/more likely to forgive when I forget to reciprocate questions

Ohhh, gotcha! That makes sense. That’s actually my main problem with making autistic friends 😅 is that a lot of the time they don’t ask questions back, and I don’t feel comfortable interrupting to randomly talk about myself, so it just turns into an interview basically. It’s for sure on me too, bc I’m also the problem for not being comfortable talking unprompted and only wanting to ask each other questions
